Leaving Germany does not automatically cancel your pension
Your pension contributions stay in the system. What changes is which routes are available to you depending on your nationality and destination.

FAQ
What happens to my pension when I leave Germany?
Your pension contributions remain in the German system even after you leave. Depending on your nationality, contribution months and destination country, you may be able to claim a refund, apply for a regular pension later or combine German and foreign pension rights through a social security agreement. The 24-month waiting period after your last mandatory contribution applies to refund cases. Fundsback helps you understand which option fits your situation.
